Inclusion and Additional Educational Needs

INCLUSION AND ADDITIONAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

The Bligh Federation seeks to include all children in all areas of the curriculum and to ensure that children who experience difficulties in any area of school life will receive appropriate support.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND):

The school publishes a policy for meeting the needs of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), which meets statutory requirements and is reviewed annually to take account of any changes made both nationally and locally. A copy of the school’s SEND policy is available from the school office.

Children who have special educational needs (for instance difficulty with reading) are given extra help within the class, and are supported by SEN and other Teaching Assistants working in a small group or individually. Children with SEN who require specific support are provided with an education plan. Parents are fully involved and suggestions are made for how help can be given.

For more detail and information relating to SEND please go to our Local Offer page.

Gifted and Talented:

More able children are catered for in all lessons through carefully planned extension and open-ended activities. We have a specific policy for Gifted and Talented Children, which explains how skills are developed and outlines the work carried out within the school.

Children identified as being Gifted or Talented are entered onto our Gifted and Talented register and an individual education plan is written.
ACCESSIBILITY

Our school is fully accessible to all children with physical disabilities. The school has an accessibility plan which outlines the steps it is taking to ensure that no child in our school with a disability is denied access to the curriculum. This plan is reviewed and updated regularly.
